Lynne & Eddie Agha of Agha Designs Jewelry Studio were honored at the Annual Bench Jewelers Conference in St. Louis last week by winning First Place in Ladies Jewelry in the 2009 Passion Award Design Competition. This competition receives entries from all over the world. The judges are themselves world-class jewelers in their own right.

The Aghas’ entry called “Spirit of Jade'' is fabricated in Sterling Silver with Green Jadeite Wings, Purple Jade Face, Diamond hair, 24K yellow gold trim. Size: 108mm x 76mm (4.25''Hx3''W).

“Spirit” was designed on their CAD (Computer Aided Design) System, and machined in wax on their in-house CAM (Computer Assisted Machining) System. All the casting, fabrication and setting work on “Spirit” was done at the Agha Designs Jewelry Studio at 301 West Elm Street in Alton Illinois.

The Agha Designs Jewelry Studio opened at their current location in 2000. They are known for their original designs in precious metals and gemstones, and their ability to “wow” their customers and keep them coming back for more new and original designs.

Agha Designs has been awarded the “Small Business of the Month Award” by the River Bend Growth Association of Illinois.

This award is presented to one selected business each month out of the hundreds that populate the greater Alton area.

The items that are considered for nomination and winning include: Service to the community, appearance and image of the business, the business response to adversity, the uniqueness of their products and the innovation employed in the execution of the development and fabrication of their products.

When reached for comment Eddie Agha (he and Lynne Agha own the business) stated “It was a great honor just to be nominated by one of our customers, but then to go on be chosen by the Growth Association, really makes us feel a sense of belonging to the community that has supported us for so long, and we hope we have helped in some small way”.
